Arrival Tanga

Arrival and departure from / to Pangani & Tanga

tanga

Tanga is the third largest city in Tanzania. You do not notice it. In Tanga all the stress of Dar Es Salaam or Arusha is quickly forgotten. Tanga offers hotels in all pricecategories.
Tanga is our supply city. Here we make the bulk of our purchases and also recommend all travelers in Tanga again with all essentials (even cash) to provide. Because once you are on the way down the coast is not much. In Pangani, there is again a gas station and a few small shops, but after that it almost stops.
Only in Tanga there are several ATMs that accept Visa, Master and Maestro cards. The nearest ATM can only be found in Stonetown on Zanzibar or in Dar Es Saalam.

From Tanga to Pangani with own car

approx. 5km south of Tanga the asphalt stops at -45km- Pangani (river crossing in Pangani, ferry runs from 6am to 9pm) -16km- Ushongo (after the village Mwera keep left and follow the signs of the hotels)

Public transportation

All buses towards Pangani leave at the local bus terminal at 11th Street. Buses or Dallas Dallas to Pangani leave every hour between 08:00 and 17:00 daily (2 hours and a ticket should not cost more than 3,500 TZS). Two buses run weekdays even across the river to Mwera (arrival from 12 clock).

But we also offer a taxi that will pick you up from the large bus terminal in Kange, or anywhere in the city and bring you directly to the Beach Crab Resort. The taxi costs 120,000 TZS for the car. It fits up to 5 people with luggage in this Toyota Noah. Please let me know in advance if you want this taxi.

From Pangani:
You must definitely cross the river. It drives a 'big' car ferry (200 shillings per person) from 6 to 21 clock (usually).
Sometimes you have to wait a while to get started. (If the ferry should stop driving you can still cross the river as a pedestrian with wooden boats, you just have to make it clear at the ferry dock that you want over) On the other side you are in the district Bweni. Unfortunately, there are no Dallas Dallas on this side of the river that drive to us on the beach. So you have to either look for a nice ride on the ferry, call yourself a Boda Boda (Piki Piki - motorcycle taxis, about 10,000TZS per bike) or our front desk to order a (car) taxi. The drivers (unfortunately there are only 2 on our side of the river) take $ 30 for the 16km up to us. Just call in advance at: 0784 543700 or 0767 543700.
